Title: Chronica que dicit[ur] Fasciculus tempo[rum] / edita p[er] quenda[m] Carthusie[n]sem ; nunc secu[n]do emendata cum quibusdam additionib[us] vsq[ue] ad hec nostra tempora.
Imprint: Venice: [Erhard Ratdolt, 24 Nov. 1480]
Comments and Notes: Title extracted from colophon (leaf 68 recto), which reads: Explicit Chronica que dicit[ur] Fasciculus tempo[rum], edita p[er] quenda[m] Carthusie[n]sem. Nunc secu[n]do emendata cum quibusdam additionib[us]: vsq[ue] ad hec nostra tempora. Uenetijs impressa: cura impensisq[ue] Erhardi Ratdolt de Augusta. Anno D[omi]ni M.CCCC.LXXX. xxiiij. mens[is] Nouembris ... Written by Werner Rolevinck. Imprint from Goff. Ratdolt's edition differs from the edition of the preceding year (by Georgius Walch) in that Ratdolt supplied many woodcuts for which spaces were left by Walch. Also, the account of the death of Charles the Bold (1477) is laudatory of Charles, and it is followed by 8 pages of new material. This edition ends with an account of the siege of the city of Rhodes by the Turks in 1480. Leaves printed on both sides; 49-58 lines per page. Unsigned gatherings. Leaf [1] (1st group) is blank; wanting in Dibner Library copy. Initials. "Tabula breuis [et] vtilis super libello quoda[m] qui dicit[ur] Fasciculus temporum" --Leaves [2] recto-[8] verso (1st group). Imperfect copy: Leaf 68 wanting; apparently part of the text of leaf 68 has been cut out and pasted onto a blank sheet of paper inserted at end of volume. Red initial A added by hand on leaf [2] recto (1st group); faint rubrication marks made throughout the volume. Extensive ms. annotations in an old hand. Bookplate: Burndy Library ... gift of Bern Dibner. Previously owned by A.L. Ritch (from laid-in correspondence). Several bookdealers' printed descriptions of early editions of this work are on front paste-down. Bound in half-vellum over patterned pastepaper boards.
