Edited by Joannes Sulpitius Verulanus. The authors collected here are traditionally known as the Scriptores rei militaris.
The 4 parts were undoubtedly also sold separately. Because of their lack of pagination and signing, it would be difficult to determine a proper order for the parts (they are found in various combinations; cf. Goff and BM 15th cent.).
Imprint from Goff. Each work has its own colophon; all 4 read the same up to the date: Impressum Rom[a]e per … Eucharium Silber alias Franck. The dates in the 1st 2 colophons are expressed entirely in words; in modern reckoning they are respectively 29 Jan. 1487 and 15 Feb. 1487. The latter 2 colophons have dates anno 1487 die vero prima Iunii and anno Domini 1487 septimo Idus Iunii [7 June].
The ill. (military tactical formations in the work by Aelianus) are created by the use of ordinary printer's types arranged in patterns showing the positioning of troops.
