Comments and Notes: ISTC does not list this in Dibner or Burndy libraries. Dated from HPT. Goff dated 1483-85. Often found with Ludolphus de Suchen (Goff L364) and Marco Polo (Goff P902). Title from colophon (leaf H8 recto), which reads: Explicit jtinerarius [i.e. itinerarius] a terra anglie i[n] p[ar]tes ierosolimitanas et in vlteriores transmarinas editus p[ri]mo in lingua gallicana a domino Iohanne de Mandeuille milite suo auctore. Anno incarnacionis D[omi]ni Mcclv. in ciuitate leodiensi [et] paulo post in eade[m] ciuitate tra[n]slatus in dicta[m] forma[m] latina[m] Quod opus vbi inceptu[m] simul et co[m]pletu[m] sit ip[s]a elementa seu singularu[m] seorsu[m] caracteres i[tine]rarum quibus impressu[m] vides venetica monstrant manifeste. Leaf A2 recto begins: Tabula p[raese]ntis libri singnla [i.e. singula] per ordinem cap[itu]la et in eo[rum] quolibet quid agitur notificat euidenter ... Imprint from Goff; all bibliographies cited below have Gouda as the place of publication for this edition, but NUC Pre-1956, v. 358, p. 467 names Antwerp instead. Signatures: A-F8 G6 H8. Leaves printed on both sides; 33 lines per page. Leaf A1 is blank. Spaces left for initials. Rubricated vellum waste leaves (from an unidentified Latin ms. of the Confessions of St. Augustine?) used for front and back endpapers. Bookplate: Burndy Library ... gift of Bern Dibner. Old blind-stamped full leather binding; raised bands; re-backed; metal clasp wanting. In modern drop-back box. With: Polo, Marco. [Travels of Marco Polo. Latin]. [De consuetudinibus et condicionibus orientalium regionum]. [Gouda : Gerard Leeu, between 1483 and 1485]. Probably bound together subsequent to publication.
