Extinction of the Hawaiian Honeycreepers

The famous adaptive radiation of Hawaiian Honeycreepers exemplifies the decline of Hawaii's native birds. The honeycreepers evolved from a single ancestral species of finch that arrived in the islands perhaps three million years ago. Tragically, many of the honeycreepers have become extinct since human arrival in the islands.
