It's
About How You Can Help Make a Difference
- There
are many ways to make a gift to the Smithsonian Institution Libraries.
The type of gift you choose will be determined by your interests
and circumstances and may have special tax and financial benefits
for you. Gifts may be made as one-time contributions or as multiyear
commitments.
- Outright
gifts of cash or other assets will produce an immediate income
tax charitable deduction and can be put to use quickly for the
benefit of the programs of your choice. If you would like to give
assets but now rely on these assets for income, a deferred gift
-gift annuity, charitable trust or bequest-may be more appropriate.
Donors who make deferred gift commitments to the Libraries become
members of the Smithsonian-wide Legacy Society.
- Endowments
are a lasting way to match your vision with the Libraries' needs
and mission. Endowments above $25,000 may be named according to
the donor's wishes.
- The
Libraries' development staff and the Smithsonian's planned giving
professionals will work closely and confidentially with you and
your financial advisors to ensure that your gift meets your personal
goals and expresses your own vision for the Smithsonian Libraries.
Spencer
Baird Society
All
individual donors of $500 and above are recognized as members of
the Spencer Baird Society,
the Libraries' premiere donor recognoition society.
