Student Educational Employment Program

The Smithsonian Institution Libraries participates in the Student Educational Employment Program. The Libraries averages about three students on staff at any given time. The Student Educational Employment Program became effective December 16, 1994 and falls under the Office of Personnel Management as a regulation (5 CFR Parts 213 and 338). To be hired under this authority, the employee must be a student enrolled or accepted for enrollment as a degree- (or certificate, diploma etc.) seeking student taking at least half-time academic course load. The Libraries recruits the students for part-time positions only, but may increase their hours to full time during the summer and college holiday breaks.
