Libraries' Open House
To celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Institution, the Libraries hosted an Open House on October 20 for SI staff, fellows and volunteers. Branch libraries and the Cataloging and Acquisitions Departments were open, 10:00 am - 2:00 pm, while Libraries' staff demonstrated the full range of services available to library users, the trade literature project, and the SIL digital library. In the branch libraries, Smithsonian staff were encouraged to get library cards. Libraries' staff enjoyed the opportunity to show other SI staff what the Libraries provides. Transportation to the branches at the Zoo and the Anacostia Museum was provided along with a schedule of shuttle runs to Preservation Services and the National Postal Museum Branch. General information and refreshments were offered in the Libraries' Conference Room and at many locations.
