Biographies of American Seedsmen and Nurserymen Hibbert, Thomas–Philadelphia, Pennsylvania–Was the partner of Robert Buist.  Hibbert operated the first noteworthy florist shop in Philadelphia.  He was known for competing with the Landreths in introducing azaleas.  In 1830, Buist and Hibbert bought M’Mahon’s nursery.  In 1832 the two partners published the how-to text, American Flower Garden Directory.  Buist carried on the business after Hibbert’s death.
