Title extracted from woodcut title of register (leaf [1a], 1st group), which reads: Registrum huius operis Libri cronicarum cu[m] figuris et ymagi[ni]bus ab inicio mu[n]di. Compiled by Hartmann Schedel. Illustrated by Michael Wolgemut and Wilhelm Pleydenwurff. Imprint from Goff. First colophon (leaf CCLXVI recto) reads: Completo in famosissima Nurembergensi vrbe operi de hystorijs etatum mundi ac descriptione vrbium. Felix imponitur finis. Collectum breui tempore auxilio doctoris Hartma[n]ni Schedel, qua fieri potuit diligentia. Anno [Christ]i millesimo quadringentesimo nonagesimotercio, die quarto mensis Iunij. Deo igitur optimo. Sint laudes infinite. Second colophon (leaf [1b], 3rd group) reads: Abest nunc studiose lector finis Libri cronicarum per viam epithomatis [et] breuiarij compilati opus q[ui]dem preclarum. ... Ad intuitu[m] autem [et] preces prouidoru[m] ciuiu[m] Sebaldi Schreyer [et] Sebastiani Kamermaister hunc librum dominus Anthonius Koberger Nuremberge impressit. ... Consummatu[m] autem duodecima mensis Iulij, anno Salutis n[ost]re, 1493. Leaves printed on both sides. Unsigned gatherings. Leaves CCLX and CCLXI are blank, except for running titles and foliation. Errors in foliation: leaves XXIX and CCXXIX misnumbered respectively as XIXX and CCXXX. Spaces for initials. "De Sarmacia regione Europe" --Leaves [2]-[5] (3rd group); misbound in Dibner Library copy between leaves CCLXVI and CCLXVII. Includes index. Bookplate: Burndy Library ... gift of Bern Dibner. Autograph on t.p.: Hieronimus Reyff, anno 1570. Partially illegible inscription from a Carthusian monastery, dated 1493, on t.p. of register. Some old ms. notes in margins, including a note on a tipped-in scrap of paper on leaf CLXX recto. Bound in contemporary blind-tooled alum-tawed pigskin over bevelled wooden boards; raised bands; metal bosses and clasps wanting.
