Comments and Notes: ISTC uses author form: Serapion, Johannes, the Elder. The Practica (i.e., Breviarium medicinae) of Serapion the Elder has been erroneously attributed to Serapion the Younger on leaf a2 recto. The Breviarium medicinae was translated from the Arabic by Gherardo da Cremona; the Liber aggregatus in medicinis simplicibus of Serapion the Younger was translated from the Arabic by Simon Genuensis and Shem Tov ben Abraham Ibn Gaon. Imprint from colophon (leaf [rum]9 verso). Signatures: a-k8 l10 m-v8 x6 y10 z8 [et]8 [con]8 [rum]10. Leaves printed on both sides; 66 lines per page. Final leaf is blank. Text in double columns. Errors in foliation: Leaves 178 and 194 are misnumbered as 176 and 187, respectively. Initials; publisher's device on leaf [rum]9 verso. Includes index. Imperfect copy: title-leaf (a1) wanting and leaf a2 torn and mostly wanting; both leaves replaced by photocopies from [N.Y. Hospital?] copy. Some ms. annotations.
