Caption title. Uniform title from Goff; imprint from colophon. Woodcuts by E. Reuwich who accompanied the author on his travels. All plates have some text printed on the verso; the GW leaf count (164) includes the 30 leaves used to make up the folded plates. Final leaf blank. Woodcuts hand-colored; large initials supplied by hand in red or blue paint; rubricated throughout. Final leaf wanting. Armorial bookplate: Thomas Brooke F.S.A. Armitage Bridge. Typed (bookseller's?) description in red and black mounted on recto of first front fly leaf.

Comments and Notes: Caption title. Uniform title from Goff; imprint from colophon. The ill., views and map from drawings by Erhard Reuwich, are printed from the original blocks used in the first ed. (Mainz, 1486) Signatures: a8 e-n8 p10; plates signed b c1 c2 c3 d1 d2 and [o] but are not regularly quired. All plates have some letterpress on verso; GW leaf count (120) includes the 30 leaves used to make up the folded plates. Plate signed c3 perfected incorrectly; ill. is upside down when text is bound in rightside up. Final leaf blank. First leaf (full page woodcut on verso) and last leaf (blank) wanting; the 6 leaf extension for the plate signed b, the 2 leaf extension for the plate signed d2, and the 4 leaf extension for the map wanting.
