About SIL Research Annex
The Smithsonian Institution Libraries Research Annex houses over 80,000 items including runs of historical serials, government publications, trade literature, and overflow material from other SI library locations.
The facility features a modern reading room with connections for laptops and scanners, a
microform reader, and a photocopier. Researchers must call or email Mike Hardy in advance of
any visit to ensure materials are available for viewing. The Libraries’ Book Conservation
Laboratory and Digital Imaging Center are also located in the same facility.
