Library materials, except for reference and special collections material, are available on loan to Smithsonian staff, affiliated agencies' staff, and other long-term appointees for a period of from one month to six months with renewal by telephone or in person. All borrowers are required to have a valid library card. No materials may be removed from Smithsonian Institution premises without a property pass signed by a librarian.
