The Vine Deloria, Jr. Library, National Museum of the American Indian
The Vine Deloria, Jr. Library, National Museum of the American Indian (NMAI) which opened in 1999
is one of the newest of the twenty branches of the Smithsonian Institution Libraries
and is housed in the Cultural Resource Center, Suitland, Maryland. The NMAI
Library supports the Cultural Resources Center (CRC), a collections depository
and research facility, the George Gustave Heye Center (GGHC); a major exhibition
facility located in the U.S. Custom House, Manhattan, New York, and the National
Museum of the American Indian Museum on the Washington Mall as well as the general
public.
