Schooner Flying Fish
Commanded by Passed Midshipman Samuel Knox, the Flying Fish was
a New York pilot boat with a crew of only fifteen. Formerly knows as the
Independence. Joined the squadron at Hampton Roads, August 12,
1839. Sold at Singapore for $3,700 in February 1842.
