Seychellois visual artists are deeply inspired by "the fascinating interplay between luxuriant exotic vegetation and local inhabitants." Others take up themes of revolutionary struggle, multi-racialism, and political freedom. Art is encouraged by the government of the Seychelles and in particular by the director of culture, Leon Radegonde, himself a practicing artist. Fourteen works of art are illustrated in color.
