Stirling, in this photo caption (which he presumably wrote), is using the term "Rouffaer River" in a way that includes the "Van der Willigen River" though it is more usual for him to use the term "Rouffaer" in a more restricted way, to mean only the tributary that, at the confluence with the Van Daalen, flows into the length of river he usually terms the "Van der Willigen River" which in turn then flows until its confluence with the Idenburg to become the Mamberamo (see Map).
