Cabo Verdean artists—painters primarily—have not been appreciated outside their country or studied very much either. This two-volume publication by Danny Spínola makes a significant contribution to contemporary Cabo Verdean art. He discusses and illustrates to work of twenty painters. Spinola gives brief biographies and portraits of each. Most of the artists are still active. The first volume is in Portuguese and English; the second, only in Portuguese.
