The Closing of the Museum of American History
The Smithsonian Insitution's National Museum of American History, Kenneth E. Behring Center, which houses the Dibner Library, closed to the public on September 5, 2006, for a major renovation project that is scheduled to last two years. While this has affected access to our facilities, we will nonetheless make every effort to accommodate researchers who need to consult our materials. Should your research require use of the collections, please contact us.
Please bear in mind that the new arrangements will require advanced notice, and that appointments may not be immediately available. We apreciate your patience and flexibility as we adjust to these circumstances.
How to Get to Us
The Dibner Library of the History of Science and Technology is located in the west wing of the first floor of the National Museum of American History, Behring Center, between 12th and 14th Streets on Constitution Avenue NW, Washington, DC.
